6.3.1.2 Dialer Screen
If you are editing options for the dialer, the following options are available for each phone
line.
Option Description Default
Phone Line Enabled Enable phone line 1 and phone line 2 as needed. If you are using
line 2, you must install the Model 4875 Second Phone Line
Monitor. See Section 4.19.1 for information about how to install
the 4875.

Answering Machine
Bypass Mode
Use this option to enable or disable the answering machine bypass
feature. Options are Mode 1 or Disabled. Mode 1 means answering
machine bypass is enabled. (This is the only mode currently
available.)
Disabled
Answer Rings Enter the number of times that your phone will ring before the
communicator will answer for downloading information. Range is
0-15. Zero disables ring detection.

Ground Start Telephone
Network Used
If this option is enabled, the system will use the ground start
telephone network. Requires a Model 5211 Ground Start Relay.
(Ground start cannot be used in UL installations.)

Phone Line Monitor
Enabled
If enabled, the telephone line will be monitored. Disabled
Direct Line Enable this option if you will be connecting the system directly to a
Model 9000 Receiver without using the telephone network. If you
are using this option, you must select the SIA-20 format. The
Model 9103 line card must be used with the 9000.
Disabled
Use Touch-Tone Dialing If this option is enabled, use Touch-Tone dialing as the primary
method of dialing. The first 4 attempts to dial will be Touch-Tone,
then alternate between Touch-Tone/Rotary, unless the Do Not Use
Rotary option (see below) has been selected.
If this option is disabled, rotary dialing will be used.
Enabled
Do Not Use Rotary This option tells the system to never use rotary dialing when
attempting to call.
Disabled
Rotary Dial 66-34 If this option is enabled, the system will use a 34 msec / 66 msec
make/break ratio. This ratio is not used in the United States.
If this option is disabled, the system uses the United States
standard 40 msec / 60 msec make/break ratio.
